Pink Eyes

So Dylan is on a roll. Two nights ago we noticed his eyes leaking green. The Drs in the family diagnosed Conjunctivitis and we started the little bugger on some drops. We kept him home from Jesus-Care because yesterday his eye was SUPER swollen. Like someone socked him in the eye swollen. This morning his eye was still blown upand red so we kept him home AGAIN. One of the Drs at the clinic here, who has been treating Dylan, told us that the best remedy for pinkeye is breast milk! He said that in 30 years of treating babies with pinkeye, it’s always worked to clear up the infection. We haven’t tried it yet because we already started him on the drops but if this doesn’t clear up soon you can be sure I’ll be squirting him in the eye!
On top of that, Mama has a sore throat, a chest cough and my eyes are itchy now too! Why do I get sicker in Tennessee? I can’t remember getting a SINGLE cold this last year!

Yesterday, we attended a memorial service for the cadavers of the medical school. It’s amazing really to think that the bodies that the students painstakingly examine, dissect and learn about were once just like you and me. People… with lives and families. Walking around the earth, wondering what to do about their scratchy throats and pink-eyed babies. The ceremony was a nice reminder of just how dependent we all are on each other. Without those cadavers, Craig would never learn about the human body; never be able to one day save some other person’s life.
