Celebrating Grown up birthdays

When my husband and I were gainfully employed we worked hard to celebrate each other's milestones. Not really with expensive things, but with SOMETHING.

It's alot harder to be creative with celebrations when you are a struggling Medical School family. But we try. And really the celebration is more for the kids these days isn't it?

My husband hit the big 34 recently. Just days after The Sickness. So there wasn't much time to prepare. It always sneaks up on me because of valentines day, anyway. And don't even get me started on the one time I, gasp, forgot his birthday. ( but only for 15 minutes)

In fact, for his birthday, Craig decided to take up balloon animal making.

He's really good at it.

Dylan get's really into birthdays. MOstly because it reminds him that he too will have a birthday. And that means presents. But we've been trying to work on "thinking about others." So that meant picking out a birthday card and a flavor of cake for Daddy.

Which is funny, since DAddy doesn't eat cake ( being a diabetic and all)
