The Phases.
Working Mothers are the queens of multi-tasking.
Don't even try to tell me differently. There is a BIG difference between preparing to stay home all day and preparing for a day of working outside the home. While BOTH have their challenges, getting out of the house presents a unique opportunity for a working-mother to shine.
There are three phases to being a working-mother and getting out the door in the morning.
Phase 1 consists of getting myself up, cleaned, sandblasted, and rebuilt into some-sort of functioning presentable professional. Oh yeah, and getting just ENOUGH coffee to hold it together until the office.
Phase 2 is the part where I get the Little Man up, de-boogered, dressed, fed, lunch made, bag packed, hugged and kissed adequately and dropped off at Jesus Care on time.
This part can be derailed by any of the following: a sleepy-head, teething, fevers, poopy diaper, cats, high-heels, crankiness, being behind on the laundry, or Phase 1 taking way too long.
Phase 3 is the part where the working mother gets to work, marginally on time with just enough minutes to prepare for the morning staff meeting, all the while trying not to think about the teary toddler goodbye she just experienced.
There's another phase, the best part of the day...
The Reconnecting Phase.
Where you finally get to hold your baby again at the end of the day.
And it makes every single second worth it.

I especially agree with the deboogered part and phase one taking too long. Nothing looks right yet and I change clothes at least 3x a morning No fun!
