Don't EAT that.

Dylan likes to eat play-dough.

I should have known. I mean, it says right on the package (For 2 and older).  And since he's only 17 months, I guess that means that, technically, he has the right to take a bite.

So we have this battle with the play-dough. He'll spot the bright colored mushy stuff hidden high on a shelf and yell "Popen!", yes with a P.

And reach for it like he just discovered GOLD. The urgency that a 17 month old can display is remarkable. At that moment in time he absolutely NEEDS to touch play-dough or he will explode.

In fact, he does explode. It's called "The beginning of tantrums." And it has arrived at our toddler doorstep, FAR too soon.

So when he finally GETS to "Popen" playdough he is beyond happy.

He squishes it. Rolls it. Carries it around like a fragile little egg.

And if you happen to turn your back on him, he will ever so sneakily..stick his tongue out and LICK IT.

And if you don't catch the lick, he'll pick off a tiny piece and put it in his mouth.

And if you miss the tiny piece, he'll full on BITE the play-dough and grin with florescent blue, green, yellow or pink dough stuck to his teeth.

So we don't "Popen" play-dough often. We'll have to wait until he's 2.

  1. If he likes playing with it so much, you should seriously make some! I used to make it all the time when Sarah was little and it's non toxic!
