Since for the last few months I have been more Furniture than Mommy. My husband has stepped up and in to fill every possible role there is to fill in family life.
He cooks. He cleans. He parents for two. He takes care of me. He takes care of Dylan. He takes care of the house and the cats.
And he does all of this while trying to become a doctor.
Everyone I know tells me how lucky I am. Everyone that sees him can't get over the father that he is to Dylan. He's "extraordinary" they tell me, "special."
But what everyone doesn't realize is that no one understands all that more than me. I would be lost without him and thinking about everything he has done for me while I wallowed in self pity over the toilet or under the covers brings tears to my eyes.
Even though i've lost my baby boy's infatuation. ( yes, I am no longer number one right now...everything is Daddy this and Daddy that) It swells my heart to know that his needs have been met these last few months and he is as loved and hugged and entertained as he was when i could be an active part of every minute of his life.
And now that there are hours in the day when i feel almost like myself again, I can even better appreciate how fortunate I am to be part of a parenting TEAM.
