Stitches.

Now I know that having a boy does not necessarily mean that you will have to go to the emergency more. But something tells me that yesterday morning was just a preview of what's to come in boy parenting.

Dylan was performing his normal ritual of "climbing on everything that doesn't move in the house" when he some how fell and landed smack dab on the corner of the coffee table...on his ear.

I knew immediately this wasn't one of his normal fall/cry events.

It was the cry of TRUE pain. I scooped him up and saw blood dripping from his outer ear.

The slice was BIG.

Luckily, Daddy hadn't left for work yet. So we were able to go right to the pediatricians office.

Something I recommend to ALL PARENTS. Most pediatricians have an urgent care room and will GLADLY take you when you walk in with an urgent matter like this ( not life threatening).  They took him right in, cleaned him up and because they ALWAYS WORK WITH KIDS it was very low key and not traumatic at all like an ER would have been. It was a good move.

They determined that he DID need stitches. And because we aren't going to be entering him in any beauty pageants ( that focus on ears) we decided not to call in a plastic surgeon.

BUT...we only made it to the numbing step... because after getting shots IN HIS WOUND...he could not calm down or stop shaking.

So...Craig made the executive decision to abandon stitches and glue the wound shut...

We were done in 5 minutes. And at Krispy Cream in 10.

And now he has a good story for valentines day. And an ugly wound to show off to his friends.
