This weekend was a "test weekend."
So we were an orphaned mother-son set left to conquer the great wild south ourselves. These weekends are both exhilerating and exhausting and they leave me breathless with love for my growing boy.
A giant milestone was reached yesterday when.... without protest i was able to slip a pair of Lighting McQueen undies on Dylan. He danced in his new shorts and we even left the house to go to the park. Only one accident! And this morning he asked to wear them again and is currently sporting Nemo Undies at Mother Mary's house.
But my favorite part of the entire weekend was our park adventure.
We were there about 30 minutes when a little girl came froliking over. She looked familiar to me but I wasn't really focused on her until Dylan yells out...
"Mommy! That's my friend!"
Sure enough it was the little girl that dylan is in childcare with. He was BESIDE himself with excitement for recognizing someone and having a friend.
"We play at Mother Mary's House!" "She's my FRIEND!!!"
The look of pure joy was enough to melt my heart. He LOVED having a friend and they continued to play together and follow eachother around for the rest of the afternoon.
It was the closest we've ever come to a "playdate" and it left me feeling that we need to do alot more of these sort of things.
