Some days the "job" of mom is kind of a bore.
Wake up, change diapers, make breakfast, BE breakfast, say "no, please don't throw that", soothe hurt knees and feelings, make lunch, BE lunch, read books, put children to sleep, make dinner, BE dinner, bathe smelly sticky kids, bedtime....rinse and repeat.
But some days the privilege of being someone's mom is heart warming.
Mother is a universal. It is the all encompassing, nurturing, loving part of life. Mother is nearly everyone's safest place, happiest memory and even when mother's fail, their children still love them.
Yesterday afternoon while playing outside with my children I had one of those reflective life moments. When you actually STOP and pay attention to all that you have and all that you are living and just honor it for what it is....life.
I watched Dylan launching his rockets.
So carefully doing each step that we have taught him.
I watched Julia watching Dylan.
Desperately wanting to stand up and run around like him.
And it all made sense, even if we were missing someone very important in our equation.
But right on cue he rolled in and surprised us...EARLY for once... and then we really were complete.
