Let it Snow!

Growing up in New England, snow was just a part of life. The first snow was always anticipated with a lot of excitement.

Would it be so much that we could dig tunnels? Go Sledding? Would school be canceled?

As a grown-up and home owner who had to "deal" with snow, the first snow fall came with a groan.

And a run to Home Depot for salt.

And the shoveling.

Oh the shoveling.

Now that we live somewhere that it doesn't snow. Doesn't even really get that cold in the winter. I desperately MISS the snow. And most of all, I miss it for my children.

Putting on snow-pants. Building a snowman. Throwing snowballs. That freezing feeling on your wrists when it drips down past your mittens. Learning to ski when you're three. And for my husband...hockey.

That's why, when the "Christmas Snow" came to town a few weeks ago we were SO excited. Sure it was more ice than snow but for our kids it was AMAZING.

MYSTIFYING even.

We showed Dylan how to make a snow ball.

We let Julia taste it.

All while wearing shorts and not jackets.

It may not have been the SAME but it was still exciting.
